About this presentation:
Organizations, from large to small are taken hostage by increasing number of cyber-attacks on their infrastructure and valuable data. The attacks have ranged across various industries such as healthcare, retail, insurance, technology, and financial services. There are about 1.5 million cyber attacks each year (approx. 4,000 per day) and the current annual spending on cybersecurity is about $74 billion which is predicated to be $1 trillion+ in 2017-2021.
Dr. Abi Salimi, will cover various aspects of cybersecurity from basic definitions to the steps organizations can take to protect themselves against cyber-attacks, and identify and mitigate the attacks when they occur. Dr. Salimi will also get the audience engaged in the discussions and will encourage them to share their experiences and insights.

About the speaker:
Dr. Abi Salimi is a Director in BDO Consulting’s Technology Advisory Services practice with more than 30 years of experience in project management, process improvement, software design, software development, implementation, testing and support. Having a doctorate in Computer Science, he leads project and process management engagements that increase productivity, improve quality and decrease costs, focused on bottom line and client satisfaction objectives. He is experienced in the healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, gaming, leisure and manufacturing industry sectors.
Certified in Healthcare Information & Management Systems, Dr. Salimi leads change management and technology-driven initiatives, developing hospital workflows, identifying gaps, and providing improvements. He is engaged in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity assessments and implementations based on frameworks and standards such as NIST, HITRUST, HIPAA and ISO. He has developed and implemented Health IT programs based on the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology curriculum, and provided training in Electronic Health Record systems and patient workflows.
Prior to joining BDO, Dr. Salimi provided Health Information Technology training to healthcare providers, held leadership roles, and taught at different universities.
