Is Lean Six Sigma Dead?
Wednesday September 21st at 6PM
Featuring Mark Singleton
(location details provided below Eventbrite link)
About this presentation:
Many saw the emergence of Six Sigma in the ‘80s at Motorola then it spread to major manufacturing firms like AlliedSignal and GE in the 90’s. Six Sigma decreased costs and increased yields for many companies, and its popularity spread to the service sector, including many consulting firms. Lean grew up on the production floor of firms like Ford Motor Company and Toyota, where its hands-on methods delivered quick and impactful results on the manufacturing floor. Lean and Six Sigma toolkits were then combined under one process improvement umbrella with the name Lean Six Sigma. Appropriate tools from the Lean or Six Sigma toolkits were used depending on the business problem being addressed. Today, Lean is still used in many businesses today, but Six Sigma is often seen as “too analytical” or taking too long to solve a business problem. During his talk Mark Singleton will talk about where Lean Six Sigma is being applied today and if this process improvement methodology is phasing out.
