Creating an Early Warning QA Tool to Help Your Testing

About this Presentation:

 

Many organizations are utilizing virtualization technology to increase the number of test machines available for QA departments.  This increase in the number of test machines creates a new dilemma for QA teams: how can you confirm that all of the additional test systems are running properly and not showing signs of serious defects brewing inside a software build?  Many companies do not want to add additional staff members to simply “babysit” environments and teams are forced to “do more with less.”

Stephen Burlingame demonstrates a solution to this problem in the form of a report that pro-actively details status and helps expose subtle defects that, if ignored, could pose serious issues once the software is deployed to production.  Participants can take away an understanding of how such a report is compiled as well as examples of critical data points collected and presented efficiently.  Participants also leave with an understanding of how to create a similar a report for their own organization.

 

About the Speaker:

 

Stephen Burlingame graduated from Binghamton University in New York with a BS in Computer Science in 2004.  His first introduction to software quality assurance occurred during his senior project where he documented critical defects in software designed to diagnosis breast cancer in digitized mammograms.

Since his graduation he has worked in the quality assurance field exclusively.  In 2006 he joined the medical claims clearinghouse Navicure, Inc.  He is currently Director of Quality assurance for Navicure and is responsible for overseeing the testing an application that processes more than 1 million transactions daily

In addition to his QA work Stephen will be speaking at the upcoming StarEAST QA conference in early May at Orlando.
